A BRIEF HISTORY

1. INTRODUCTION

INT-TRA-PATENT BUREAU is a law firm established since 1960 in Jakarta, Indonesia and specializing in intellectual property matters that covers patent, trademark, copyright, industrial design, licensing, litigation, and also as legal consultant.

Since then, INT-TRA-PATENT BUREAU has grown rapidly in representing clients that come from all over the world.

Maintaining clients’ trust and satisfaction in our firm has always been the firm’s number one priority. That is why we are consistently striving to improve our services and constantly designing innovative services to suit our clients’ needs.

2. PATENT MATTERS

On August 1, 2001, a new Indonesian Patent Law No. 14/2001 (as replacement of the Indonesian Law No. 13/1997 concerning the Amendment of Indonesian Patent Law No. 6/1989) has come into force and our firm tried to maximize our services in patent field which cover:

- Patentability searches.
- Opinions on patent validity and infringement.
- Preparing and filing patent applications and obtaining Indonesian patents.
- Computer patents annuities services.
- Enforcing patents against infringement.
- Defending clients against infringement charges by others.


3. TRADEMARK MATTERS

Starting from August 1, 2001, the changes that have been brought by the new Indonesian Mark Law No. 15/2001 (as replacement of the Indonesian Law No. 14/1997 concerning the Amendment of Indonesian Mark Law No. 19/1992) have also made changes in our services to our clients that of course to be the better ones. We tried to create a better system, so that our esteemed clients feel comfort in taking care their trademark matters.

Our services in trademark matters (trademarks, service marks, and collective marks) include as follows:

3.1. TRADEMARK COMPUTERIZED SYSTEMS

3.1.1. Computer trademark renewal services

We have a computer generated advice that will remind you and assist you in renewing all your trademark registrations in Indonesia. There are no fees to enter/join our Computer Trademark Renewal Services nor obligation to renew the trademark(s), all you have to do just send us a list of your clients’/applicants’ name.

Each year our database will search and inform you if any of the marks in the name of your clients exist and due for renewal. In fact, you will get the following advantages by entering our Computer Trademark Renewal Services:

- Save your time and money, by not doing checking and keep tracking of all your trademark registrations’ expiry dates. Our computer will take care of it.
- Prompt advice.
- Simplicity, each year we will provide you with a list of all your trademark registration(s) number(s) which will fall due for renewal in that year, along with the deadline(s) for filing the renewal. All you have to do is to check “yes” or “no” to renew the registration(s), and we will renew the registration(s) within the due date.
- Keep your trademark registration(s) in force & protecting you from the trademark pirates, by renewing the registration(s) within the due date.

3.1.2. Computer trademark searching services

With our computer trademarks database, we are able to do trademarks search not only on the registered trademarks but also on the pending applications. This service is our professional service that is not provided through the official search at the Indonesian Trademark Office.

3.1.3. Computer trademark watching services

Our computer trademarks data base has been equipped with a trademark watching system which is able to give a quick alert in case of the existence of a third party’s trademark pending applications. It enables us to take prompt action by lodging an opposition action against the said third party’s trademark.

4. COPYRIGHT MATTERS

We also give our services to our clients in copyright matters. We provide the following services for copyright:

- Determining the applicability of copyright protection.
- Filing copyright application and obtaining registration.
- Enforcing copyright against infringement.
- Defending client against infringement charged by others.
- Licensing.

5. INDUSTRIAL DESIGN MATTERS

On December 20, 2000, a new Law No. 31/2000 concerning Industrial Design has come into force and our firm tried to maximize our services in industrial design field which cover:

- Industrial design searches.
- Opinions on industrial design validity and infringement.
- Preparing and filing industrial design applications.
- Enforcing industrial designs against infringement.
- Defending clients against infringement charges by others.

6. CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT OF PROFESSIONALISM

In line with the development of the International Intellectual Property, we always try to follow the development in said matter, and being the member of some Intellectual Property Associations is one of our effort to not stay behind in knowing the improvement in the Intellectual Property matter. INTA (International Trademark Association) is one of associations that we are involved.
